Building a world-leading destination

Since its beginning, Dubai’s leaders have focused firmly on the future, setting the stage and creating a road map for the decades ahead. Leaders who are unafraid to test the boundaries of what others would consider an impossibility. A burning purpose condensed by Dubai’s ruler in one uncomplicated phrase:

“Many leaders promise. We deliver.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai

Leadership - the cornerstone of Dubai’s success

Throughout the recent decades, Dubai’s strategy has without a doubt been focused on developing and supporting an environment for others to achieve. There is an energy that infuses the country, a determined outlook that fuels even the most seemingly significant of tasks.

With the ultimate vision of positioning Dubai as the world’s leading tourism and lifestyle destination supported by an extensive commercial hub, Dubai’s mission is to increase the awareness of Dubai among global audiences and to attract tourists and inward investment into the emirate.

With credit to the pioneering drive of Dubai’s leaders, the city is quickly closing the gap with the world’s most competitive economies. 2018 saw Dubai rank first in the Arab world and fourth globally in the ‘Economic Performance Pillar’ – placing it ahead of Japan, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and all EU countries, with the exception of Luxembourg.

Dubai also ranked globally 1st for Gross Domestic Savings % of GDP and Employment

A Safe Haven

Dubai has transformed the lives of so many people. No longer simply a city famous for its cranes, developments and rapid evolution, it is a living and breathing entity. A safe haven that more than 3 million people call home.

At the epi centre of all this is Dubai’s determination to become the happiest and smartest city in the world. In 2017, Dubai announced a Happiness Meter as part of the emirate’s first strategic ‘smart city’ initiative. The government also took the innovative step of instating the UAE’s first Minister of Happiness.

“Happiness is a serious job for governments. The main job for the government is to create happiness. The role of the government is to create an environment where people can flourish – reach their potential – and choose to be happy, and for us in the UAE, happiness is very important.”

Her Excellency Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi,

Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing, the UAE Government

Supporting cultural Diversity

Running alongside the pioneering endeavour for happiness, the UAE is also leading the way in disseminating tolerance across the region, while embracing its incredible mix of cultures. In 2017, the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, announced a charter to help pave the way for peace and coexistence in a country where 200 nationalities live and work together.

“Tolerance is like a beautiful symphony orchestra. It requires a lot of patience but when there is harmony, this is translated to joy and acceptance.”

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi

At the Forefront is the Family

The collection of different lifestyles destinations available throughout the emirate, it comes as no surprise that so many family units have chosen to settle in Dubai and call this place their home. Dubai's Code of Conduct also hails family as the most important institution and the cornerstone of society and life in the emirate

A Truly Global Education

Dubai’s educational platform is designed to embrace and welcome families from across the world, regardless of religion or race. From the British and American curriculums to International Baccalaureate and India’s CBSE and CISC, there is nowhere else in the world that children can enjoy such a multicultural schooling system. Working and learning with peers from so many different nationalities, young people openly learn tolerance and together enjoy experiencing the world through their peer’s stories, adding to the rich culture that is at the core of family life in Dubai.
